PK4: Where curiosity becomes knowledge
Comprehensive bilingual program for 4-year-olds that combines MEP standards with international programs and innovative methodologies for fun and meaningful learning.
Awakening the curiosity that guides their learning
4 years old
Bilingual (Spanish-English)
Schedule: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
At four years old, children begin to see the world with more attentive eyes full of questions. They want to know how things work, seek to solve small challenges, and enjoy learning alongside others.
In our PK4 program, we accompany that natural curiosity with experiences that combine play, exploration, and academic learning. Each day is filled with opportunities to discover, create, and build their confidence.
Here, bilingual learning becomes part of their daily life, helping them communicate confidently in both languages while developing thinking and problem-solving skills.
Our program offers:
Curriculum aligned with MEP and enriched with international standards.
Bilingual teaching: some subjects in English and others in Spanish.
Meaningful introduction to the use of educational technology.
Activities that stimulate curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
A program designed to awaken curiosity at 4 years old
At this stage, children learn best when they combine structure with the freedom to explore. Our PK4 program offers a solid academic foundation, but with the flexibility and play that children this age need to learn with enthusiasm.
Aligned with MEP, enriched with international standards
We comply with all the guidelines of Costa Rica's Ministry of Public Education—that's our foundation—but we go further.
We integrate international methodologies and resources that strengthen the cognitive, emotional, and social development of 4-year-olds. It's the best of both worlds: local official recognition with global quality and vision.
Strategic and intentional bilingualism
At this age, the brain is at its ideal moment to acquire a second language.
That's why, in PK4, English is no longer just exposure: children actively use it to communicate and learn new content, developing confidence and fluency naturally.
Courses in Spanish:- Spanish (literacy development)
- Sustainability (exploration and connection with the local environment)
- Science (investigation and discovery of the natural world)
- English (linguistic competence development)
- Costa Rica and the World (understanding the country within a global perspective)
- Mathematics (strengthening logical and mathematical thinking)
Technology as a learning tool
In an increasingly digital world, children need much more than knowing how to use a screen: they need to understand, create, and think with technology.
In our Technology Lab, 4-year-olds discover how technology can be a tool for learning, imagining, and expressing themselves.
Through fun and age-appropriate experiences:
- They create their own stories with educational apps designed to foster creativity.
- They develop critical thinking while exploring and solving small challenges through play.
Here, technology doesn't replace children's natural curiosity—it enhances it.
Art and sports
- Visual arts: We have a bilingual art teacher and renowned artist with extensive experience in international curricula. Students develop creativity, fine motor skills, and artistic expression. Her background allows her to apply innovative methodologies and creative techniques that inspire, motivate, and awaken her students' creativity. Additionally, children discover recognized artists and painters, exploring their styles and learning to appreciate art history in a playful way.
- Music: exploration of rhythm, body expression, and musical appreciation. Songs, rhythms, simple instruments, and movement to the beat. They also meet famous composers, listen to their works, and learn about music history through sensory and creative experiences.
- Physical education: strengthening motor skills, teamwork, and healthy habits. Children learn about different sports from around the world, fostering cooperation, respect, and fun through movement.

Frequently asked questions
What all PK4 parents ask
Does my child need to know how to read before entering PK4?
No. In fact, we prefer that reading hasn't been "forced" prematurely. In PK4 we build the correct foundations of literacy while respecting natural development. Some children will finish the year reading simple words, others will get there in Kinder—both are perfectly fine.
Does my child need to know English before entering?
Not at all. Most of our students arrive without knowing a word of English. At this age, they absorb languages like sponges.
What if my child cries when I leave them?
It's completely normal (and heartbreaking, we know). We have a lot of experience helping children with separation. Usually, after you leave, they calm down within minutes and join the activities. We'll keep you informed throughout the day if you need it.
Do I need to enroll them in all the extracurriculars?
No. Extracurriculars are completely optional. Some parents choose one or two, others all of them, and others none. You know your child and your schedule—decide what works best.
What should I pack in the lunch box?
Healthy foods that are easy to eat and in small portions. Avoid things that are too sugary or that could be a choking hazard. We'll share a complete guide to healthy lunch boxes when you enroll.
Can we visit before committing?
Absolutely. If you're already in the area, we'd love to show you the facilities and let your children participate in a class. Just mention it in your inquiry.
What documents do I need to enroll my child?
The process is very simple. You'll need a copy of your child's passport, vaccination records, and if possible, the last report card or grade report from their previous school. Don't worry if you don't have everything—we work with you to make enrollment as easy as possible.
How does extended care work? Do I have to commit for the whole year?
Extended care is super flexible—you pay by the hour as you use it (₡500/hour). You don't need to register in advance or commit to specific days. Some parents use it occasionally when they have meetings, others need it daily. You decide week to week or day to day. Just give us a little advance notice so we can make sure we have the right staff.
We begin the school year for 2026.
Let’s embark together on a path to a bright future
